Erin Blackwell – Get the Shot Guide
Here’s the ONE thing standing in your way of having beautiful photos of yourself for your brand and social media
Maybe you’ve tried having someone take your photos and you HATED the way they looked. Maybe you felt like it was too much work, too much time or too much money.
However, as an entrepreneur or small business owner looking to build your customer base…You know that connecting with your clients and getting them to ‘know, like and trust’ you through photos is a MUST to be successful.
It IS difficult to get a good photo of yourself (and it’s NOT because you need to lose weight.)
…it’s because you were never taught how to pose for the camera, and most people aren’t taught how to take a flattering photo of someone else!
Look, I know most photographers don’t want to share the tricks of the trade because they think they’ll become obsolete.
But I also KNOW there’s a time and a place for professional photographs, and that not everyone has the bandwidth to go see (and pay) a professional EVERY time they need new images for their business!
Maybe you’re tempted to
- Resort to generic, boring stock photos
- Keep reusing those old shots (Nobody will notice those 80’s bangs, right?)
- Shoot your own duckface selfies
Here’s what you might not know…
Even the best website and social media posts won’t connect with your clients if your brand photos look, well, ‘meh’…
As the face of your brand, your ideal clients want to stop their scroll and get to know YOU.
HOW DO I KNOW ALL OF THIS?
I’m Erin Blackwell and I KNOW what it’s like to hate being in photos!
I’ve been a professional photographer for 10 years and I STILL don’t like being in front of the camera.
And no matter how many professional shoots I do, I run out of images I love pretty quickly.
But things changed one day when I was visiting Scottsdale, Arizona with a few friends. One of the girls I was with forced me to be in some photos and I decided to put everything I’ve learned over the last 10 years into effect.
I planned my outfits, got my hair and makeup done and found a few gorgeous locations. I posed myself and told my friend exactly how to use my camera AND IT WORKED!
With all of the tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years, and some new tweaks to how to direct the person behind the camera, I was able to get beautiful, professional looking photos without a professional taking them!
Here’s the uncomfortable truth: your current DIY branding and social media photos could be costing you money.
Your brand photos are MORE important than the design of your site… or what you write in your posts.
If you look like a million $$$$$$, people will want to be a part of your world.
With the right photos you can show up in the BIG LEAGUE without feelin’ like the poor country cousin…
LET’S GET REAL FOR A MOMENT:
There are 3 Reasons Most People Fail to Put Themselves in front of the camera
REASON 1: You believe no one wants or needs to see your face in order to do business with you.
Like it or not, the FACT is, people want to work with people they know, like and trust.
What’s the first thing you do when you’re thinking of working with someone? Visit their website or social media pages.
Guess what? Your potential clients are doing the same.
And if you’re not showing up in photos, your audience most likely has no idea who you are or what you’re about.
If you’re not showing up in photos, I venture to guess that they will most likely keep on searching until they land on a site that DOES show photos of who they’ll be working with.
People NEED to see the face behind the brand.
REASON 2: You can’t afford to go to a professional photographer EVERY time you need photos.
I totally get it. Good photography is not cheap.
BUT, don’t let that hold you back from creating new images for your social media and website.
You can ACTUALLY take some pretty amazing photos yourself, or have a friend or partner help you out.
You just need some basic guidelines and insider tips to get you going.
REASON 3: You’ve never had a good experience in front of the camera and you hate how you look in every photo.
This is 100% normal.
It’s normal if you can’t figure out how to take a decent photo of yourself. It’s normal if your husband gets grumpy when he has to take 2,347 photos of you to get one good one. It’s normal to feel like you have nothing to wear. It’s normal to feel like you need to lose 10 lbs before you’ll be the face of your brand.
All of these feelings you’re feeling are valid.
The fact is, most business owners and entrepreneurs don’t ever build up a professional library of enough content because #Time #Money.
This is a massive problem because pretty soon you’ll run out of photos and will need to spend MORE money to have a professional take them, OR more time and frustration trying to do it yourself or have someone less qualified do it for you.
If you don’t have anything to post…you stop posting. And then you lose that connection you were working so hard to build with your audience.
That’s why it is VITAL you have a plan for your visual branding and social media images that outlasts the test of time!
