Margaret practices in the areas of labor and employment law, business litigation, and education law.She is certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a specialist in employment and labor law. She has tried cases in both state and federal courts and before state and federal administrative agencies and has argued appeals in state and federal courts, including the Ohio Supreme Court. Margaret also handles labor negotiations, arbitrations, policy and handbook reviews, teacher termination proceedings, and supervisor training for private and public sector employers. Margaret lectures frequently on labor and employment and education law topics.
Margaret served for ten years as a judge pro tem of the Perrysburg Municipal Court. Margaret served as law clerk to the Hon. Robert E. DeMascio, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan from 1986-88. She joined Marshall & Melhorn in 2014, after practicing with a Toledo litigation firm for more than twenty-five years. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William and Mary in 1982 and a law degree magna cum laude from Rutgers University Law School in 1986. Margaret was Editor-in-Chief of the Rutgers Law Review.
Margaret is admitted to practice in Ohio, Michigan, New York, and New Jersey, numerous federal district courts and courts of appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
Jennifer has a broad based litigation practice with special emphasis on employment, business, education, fiduciary and estate, construction and subrogation litigation. She joined Marshall & Melhorn in 1986 after clerking for the Honorable Nicholas J. Walinski of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Jennifer is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts of Ohio and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. She has tried cases in both state and federal courts and administrative agencies and has argued appeals in state and federal courts, including the Ohio Supreme Court. In addition, Jennifer is a member of the Federal Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel, and frequently serves as a mediator.
She is a member of the American, Ohio, and Toledo Bar Associations and the Toledo Women's Bar Association. She has served on the board of trustees of the Toledo Bar Association, the Employers' Association, and the Toledo Women's Bar Association. She has also served on the executive committee of the Morrison R. Waite chapter of the American Inns of Court, is a fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation and the Toledo Bar Foundation, has served as a member of the University of Toledo College of Law Board of Governors, and has been a member of the board of trustees of numerous nonprofit entities.
Jim has been certified as a Specialist in Labor & Employment Law by the Ohio State Bar Association since the certification first became available in 2002. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Penn State in 1973 and Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo in 1976. Jim represented the City of Toledo for 25 years in labor and employment matters where he was Chief of the Law Department’s Employment Law Section. He has served in ProMedica’s Legal Department for the past 11 years in a like capacity. Jim has long been a presenter on labor and employment topics at local, state and national forums. He is admitted to practice in the State of Ohio and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Mr. Nacht holds degrees from Harvard College ('87) and The University of Michigan Law School ('92), where he served as an editor of the Law Review. Mr. Nacht is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating for lawyers by lawyers, has been named a "Million Dollar Advocate" and also has been named to the 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 edition of Michigan Super Lawyers. Each year, no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor. Mr. Nacht is also AV Rated by Martindale Hubbell. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Nacht served as a staff member to former U.S. Senator John Glenn on the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, where he organized committee hearings and assisted the Senator in negotiating the passage of multiple pieces of legislation. He practices in Toledo and Ann Arbor at the firm that he founded in 1996.
